  • He was the first god of the sea.
  • He was a shape shifter with the gift of prophecy.
  • Lived in the Aegean Sea
  • Unlike other sea gods, Nereus was usually depicted clothed.
  • He was also depicted as an old man with a wooden staff; sometime he had a coiling fish tail.
  • He was considered to be a gentle and trustworthy god who never lied.
